The application deadline for the PGCE with QTS course is 1st June and for the Independent PGCE is the 19th June.
Since our first cohort of just 12 trainees in 2002 we have grown to be the leading and largest teacher training provider for the independent school sector. This year we are training over 600 teachers.

We have a number of routes to become a qualified teacher, including a 12-week Assessment Only Route for more experienced teachers. All of our courses allow trainees to gain the qualification whilst working at your school.


Our Master's degree in Educational Leadership (MEd) has become the qualification of choice for current and aspirant independent school leaders.

Primary/Secondary PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

The PGCE with QTS accredits teachers to teach in the state-maintained sector.
Candidates from state or independent schools may apply.

They will: 

  • hold a degree and pass the skills test
  • have GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent);
  • be employed as a teacher and should be in sole charge of a full size class for between 50-90% of a full standard teaching timetable for the entire duration of the course
 

Independent PGCE


The independent PGCE is a formal teacher training course for teachers in the independent sector in the UK or abroad.
 

Candidates will:

  • be educated to degree level
  • be in sole chare of a full size class for a minimum of 10 hours per week for the entire duraton of the course
 

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Conversion Course


The QTS Conversion course is available to all trainees who hold our Independent PGCE qualification. It is available at both Primary (General and Subject Specific) and Secondary levels and is a 37-week school-based programme. Gaining QTS accredits teachers to work in the state-maintained sector. 

Candidates will:

  • have GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Be employed as a teacher and should be in sole charge of a full size class for between 50-90% of a full standard teaching timetable for the entire duration of the course
  • hold a degree and pass the skills tests.
 

Fast-Track (12 weeks) Assessment Only Route to QTS

A 12-week route to gain QTS for teachers from the UK or abroad with two or more years' teaching experience. (Candidates who hold our Independent PGCE may be considered with only one year of teaching experience). 

Candidates will:

  • have taught for at least two years in two schools. For teachers who have only taught in one school a three week placement will be required; • demonstrate  and provide evidence that they meet all of the Teachers' Standards;
  • hold a degree and pass the skills tests.
    Candidates may apply for a September, January or April start.
 

MEd in Educational Leadership

The Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership is a deeply practical course, which aims to develop and improve the quality of leadership in schools.

Candidates will:

  • be a head teacher, deputy head, housemaster/housemistress, head of year or head of department;
  • have at least four years' teaching experience;
